Bay to Baker Trail / Squalicum Creek Park
Providing great access to many key northwest Bellingham parks and built on abandoned railroad and road grade, the Bay to Baker Trail links Little Squalicum Beach almost to Cornwall Park.

By making use of the parking lot at the corner of Squalicum Parkway and West Street you can begin your trek in Squalicum Creek Park. Decked out with newly groomed trails, tons of trees planted over the past couple years and public restrooms, you can take a swing through the park before hooking up with the Bay to Baker Trail running along the park’s far north side. From here the path runs east or west. By heading towards the bay you take a behind-the-scenes fieldtrip of the industrial work areas of a few long time Bellingham businesses. It’s easy to see that you are traveling where the trains once did. Nearing the bay, abandoned coal mines can also be viewed.

The westward terminus of the trail is Little Squalicum Beach where the creek empties into Bellingham Bay. An option is to transition to a beach walk here as you travel over sand and cobblestones toward the downtown marina area.

With multiple trail spurs, there are also opportunities to access Bellingham Technical College, Birchwood Park, Birchwood Business District and Squalicum Parkway near Northwest Avenue overpass.
