Taylor Street Stairs / Taylor Street Dock
For a great heart pumping and lung busting workout go no further than Bellingham’s southside Taylor Street. Whether starting from the eastern (WWU) side or western (bay) side, your workout will be the same – up, up, up then down, down, down.

If you want to incorporate an old-school stair workout you can’t beat the 100+ Taylor Street stairs heading due west from 21st Street. Once you hit the top you are greeted by an expansive and spectacular bay and island view. You can choose to head straight down Taylor from here. However, your knees might appreciate it if you meander down the hill, hitting flat sections of east/west running side streets and seeing some beautiful old homes in the process. Once at Tenth and Taylor you can finish your downward journey by taking advantage of the entire 1,150 feet of the impressive Taylor Dock where you find yourself right out over the water. After taking a little breather at Boulevard Park you’re ready for the mighty, but relatively short journey back. First you’ll tackle the steep incline back up the dock to Tenth Street before red-lining your oxygen consumption for nine blocks up to the arboreal roof of South Bellingham. Back down the stairs and you’re done!

Distance: 2 miles roundtrip
