A lot of new things are ahead for the Bellingham Bay Marathon weekend of events in 2021! This September 24-26, the Bellingham Bay Marathon events, presented by Peace Health, will return in-person! All proceeds go towards local youth programs.
There will be a 2-day expo at the Hotel Leo (9/24-9/25), and the races will change to a 2-day format, with the 5K/10K held on Saturday, 9/25, and the Half/Marathon held on Sunday, 9/26. Fairhaven Runners & Walkers is the Official Running Store of BBM and will be hosting a week-long packet pickup the week leading into the race.
New this year, BBM will host a pre-race shakeout run on Friday, 9/24 from Boundary Bay Brewery, down and around Waypoint Park and back. Those who sign up for this will get a commemorative glass and a beer token to one of Bellingham’s several local breweries.
We are excited and grateful that Marathon participants will get to experience the Lummi Nation, with early morning views of the Lummi and Portage Islands. The courses have also changed, made to be faster, with no train crossings.
