Get Fit For the Food Bank Challenge
Event Navigation
The backstory – Local athlete Ethan Hunger is doing his third annual Hunger Vs. Hunger Fundraiser to raise awareness about hunger in our community & raise funds for the Bellingham Food Bank. His mission is to burn nearly 12,000 calories* on July 8th by road biking 112 miles, running 26.2 miles, swimming ~3 miles, mountain biking ~6 miles and doing a 1 hour high intensity interval training (HIIT) workout! Last year he did 15 hours (900 minutes) of activity over the day to complete his quest and anticipates doing the same this year.
*calories burned as measured on his fitness smart watch with HR chest strap and Ethan refueled with ample calories along the way!
Ethan has again inspired us to offer an event focused on challenging participants to rack up at least 900 minutes (equivalent to what Ethan did in his epic quest) of their favorite outdoor physical pursuits in July and do at least four different kinds of activity in the process.
We will donate $20 to Ethan’s Bellingham Food Bank Fundraiser for each person who completes our challenge (up to $1,000 in donations).
Everyone who completes the challenge will also be eligible for a drawing for four $25 Fairhaven Runners & Walkers gift cards.
How do you record & report your results? Each day record the activity you did and minutes you exercised until you reach 900 minutes, then take a screenshot or photo of your list and email it to us at Runners@Fairhavenrunners.com by July 31st.
What kinds of activity counts? Walking, hiking, running, dancing, paddling, cycling, swimming, climbing, etc., etc. 🙂
